David Bergmen on Secretly Filmed Video of Mr. Nannu

I cant be the only one confused about the (secretly filmed?) interview with a person who was said to be Shamsul Huq Nannu, a witness in the Motiur Rahman Nizami war crimes trial - and how he was supposedly intimidated to give evidence to the international crimes tribunal. As you will recall it first came to light in the Daily Telegraph in the UK which ran an article on it. Subsequently, a person who said that he was in fact the real Nannu, looking rather different from the person in the video, gave a press conference in which he denied that he had ever given an interview. Now another interview has surfaced that seems to strongly suggest that in fact the person who gave the video interview was Nannu. This shows 'Nannu' speaking to ICT prosecutors - and he looks extremely like the Nannu who gave the video interview (rather than the one in the press conference). I dont know if this means that the Nannu who gave the press conference is a completely different person or has changed his appearance, This of course may not be the end of the story, but it does appear that the Daily Telegraph story (which, for purposes of full disclosure, I should say I sometimes write for - though I did not write this story!) was right in publishing the article. Though perhaps this is not the end of the story, and some more videos will emerge. Who knows? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63mJ503MyRQ

ScreenShot of His Post

Mr Nannu, the man on the secret video, denies having conversation with Diganto TV. But why is this denial now?

Bangladeshi people are emotionally sensitive; they are prone to follow publicity by the press and media, without analyzing or giving much thought about it. They follow with the wind. Majority of people follows their leader and what they hear without objectively asking question.

This man Nannu, never in the least thought that he had been secretly filmed by Diganto TV. He probably confided in them believing it to be a conversation well guarded, never to be revealed to the public domain; but there is a saying in the police department, that if two people hear, the news is bound to reach a third, and if three people hears, it is bound to reach ten. So, my advice to people who wants to keep a secret is, never tell them to a second person.

But our friend Naanu’s case is different, because a man’s life and death depended on his statement, so he has done the right thing to disclose it to a third party. Whether it will help Maulana Nizami or not is another matter. As for his excuse and press statement, one can understand that he needs to save his life from Sheikh Hasina, so naturally, the man would deny ever having said anything, or deny that it was him on the video with flimsy, laughable excuses. What difference does it make if after one year the man now has moustache or a long thick hair? All he needs to do is grow his hair, or wear a falls wig and moustache.

If any body had seen the video, they would have been aware that unlike the tampered video of Delwar Hussain Sayeedi, which our crooked political opponent had made to malign Maulana Sayeedi, on the contrary, this video’s voice, body movement, physical characteristic and features were all natural. But you know, Awamileague and their die hard followers are truth sensitive, they will deny the truth even if they see the angel coming down from the sky.

Random Thoughts on ICT Witness Scandal

We read a report on The Telegraph about the ICT scandal and found a video clip in YouTube where a witness name shamshul haque Nannu says he was compelled to give false statement against Mawlana Motiur Rahman Nizami at International criminal Court for 71’s war crimes. He also said a special branch of army intelligence is handling the matter and was threatened.

You can find this video here:

After spreading the video clip quickly through the online electronic media, general people shocked to see another alleged scandal of ICT (Previously was on Skype). Jamaat has been denying it as a fair trial from the very beginning of the trial procedure though.

But dramatically the presently most discussed person Nannu arranges a press conference where he says, He came to know  from a newspaper that a video of his interview is belong to them. He saw the video from YouTube later on but he denies that the person seen in the video clip is not him and he has a mustache and had a long curly hair from childhood. He claimed the man in focus has neither a mustache nor long curly hair and the voice that was heard was not him.

The given statement without any change is given below in Bangla and given the news report link on his press conference

Refusal of Shamsul hauque Nannu’s alleged statement twisted the situation and made it more complex. As it has already become a burning topic of present time, I found another video of him which was taken in the time of ICT prosecution's investigation in his locality.

You can watch this video here

Major Observation:
1.       In the video at press conference, he is being seen with mustache and curly long hair and there’s no doubt the man in the video is Shamsul Haque Nannu

2.       But look at the video previously shot in the time of investigation He has neither a long hair nor a mustache and the person is very much similar to the man the telegraph reported about.

Minor Observation:
1.       Look closely the video in which he is briefing to the journalists in the press conference, he looks tensed hesitated and threatened

Opinion:  After all these observations, If we are not biased can easily understand the authority may  pressure him for that press conference steaming the matter another way and suppressing the allegation of ICT scandal. Previously we all know about Sayedee Witness Bali's abduction, though authority denied his abduction, lately found in Indian jail.

Nannu's Press Statement: Yet another Proof of Government's threat on his Life

It seems that the latest statement made by the witness (Mr. Nannu) in favor of the government is yet another proof of government's threat on his life. All appearances of Mr. Nannu are the same if you can have a close look. His voice everywhere is the same. The art of his speech and gesture is the same everywhere constantly. I appreciate that notwithstanding all the government pressures and threat on his life and on his whole family he confessed the truth when he got a chance. It is out inefficiency and irresponsibility to air his confessional statement exposing government's plot without giving him full bullet-proof security. The coverage by international media of his confessional statement captured in video footage on government soliciting his statement against Mawlana Nizami is a serious blow on the government's claim of free and fair trial. Since might is right that has been so far proven of the government's stand, they have used their might again to proof that they are right and the video footage of his statement about government's coercion is just a cooked documentary of the pro-war criminals block.

Nannu Leaks: This ain't just any #ICTScandal (with full video evidence) !!!

Various channels to date have broadcast the interview of Mr. Nannu, a prosecution witness in the case against Ameer-e-Jamaat Mawlana Motiur Rahman Nizami, where a worried Nannu (clearly under pressure from the present government led by Sheikh Hasina) came in front of the media to claim that he is not the same Nannu who was filmed in the secret video exposing the farcical nature of the War crimes trials.

The secret video in question has come to the limelight after the British Daily Telegraph published news of another scandal of immense proportions regarding the mechanisms of the International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh, when it said, “ Mr Cadman cited a secretly filmed meeting between a defence figure and a key witness in the war crimes trial of another Jamaat leader in which the witness said he was being forced by government threats and financial inducements to give evidence.

In the film, the witness, known as 'Nannu' said he and his family had been threatened and that he had been offered a large interest free loan to be a witness against Motiur Rahman Nizami, another top Jamaat leader, accused of committing atrocities. "I've seen this video and it's deeply disturbing. It brings the whole process into question. If this witness has been pursued and coerced by the government, there has to be an international, independent inquiry into this whole process," said Mr Cadman.”

Realizing the enormity of what had transpired, the government authorities hastily arranged for a press conference making fazed Nannu almost seem like he was lying through his teeth. His conviction was unnatural as he adamantly tried to assert that he was not the same Nannu as in the leaked video.  But is this the truth? Natunbarta reportsNannu as saying,

“From newspaper sources, I have come to know that some people have a video of an interview I was supposed to have given. After that, I saw the video on youtube. The man shown in the video does not have a moustache. I have long curly hair from my childhood. But the man in the video does not have long curly hair. Also, the voice of the man in the video is not mine. This voice in the video is a distorted voice of mine. Moreover, the statement given is also not mine”

It is true that Nannu attended the news conference donning a moustache. This is how he looked at the presser.

And this is the picture of the Nannu in the secretly recorded video.

Yes, it is true that the Nannu in the secretly filmed video does not have a moustache. But a picture from his voter ID also does not don a moustache. See this picture below

Also the fact remains that when the trial of Mawlana Nizami began, the same Nannu was on the field with the prosecution team in his role as an important prosecution witness. He was without a moustache then too. See his picture below.

So did he have a moustache then? Does the picture above a moustache? You do not believe the above picture to be of the real Nannu when he was interviewed? Hmmm, we have just the right thing for you.

See the full video from which the above picture was taken as a screenshot (post with resumable Download Link

So is it not proved now that Nannu did not have a moustache then?

Let us point out a couple of inconsistencies which prove that Nannu was a trained witness used with the intent to bring forward false cases and accusations against Jamaat leader Mawlana Nizami,

a. In the above video, Nannu tells the prosecutor that Nizami was an activist of the Chatro Songstha. Such a group never existed. It should have been Chatro Songho.

b. Whenever journalists come forward to ask questions, police create a ruckus and start shoving and pushing everybody forward, informing that no more questions may be asked. Such moves are great if your witness is a false trained one. You obviously wouldn’t want him blurting out any inconsistent and made up data.
There is no need to expound much on the matter. Suffice to say that one does not need much more to prove that Nannu is a false witness.

Let me just add that if you check the secretly filmed video and the video of Nannu with the prosecution team, you shall be treated to the fact that Nannu is wearing the same tie on both occasions. Coincidence can only go so far. Don’t you think????

Let us peruse another video where it becomes clear that the Nannu in secret video and the one in the press conference is the one and the same person.

Now carefully listen to the voice of the video from the conference and the secret video, at the beginning and latter parts respectively. Sound similar? Yes, we thought so too. They are the one and the same person. Full stop.

So what will the tribunal say now? To rephrase that more authoritatively, what will the government say now? Sure, the trial of war criminals had to go on. But was the situation so bad that they had to manufacture testimony and tailor witnesses on a case to case basis, even coerce them to falsely testify? We all know of the atrocities committed upon humanity in the war of 1971. The video evidence of killing and rape cannot be ignored. Although many known collaborators are still alive, of whom more than 37000 were listed after 1971 under the Collaborators Act, the government has seen it fit to generalize the entire Jamaat leadership (none of whom were in that list) as ‘THE’ collaborators. All was well and fine, until they came to the evidence part. They had none.

This scandal is nothing out of the blue. It is in line with a steady flow of misappropriations the nation has been witnessing from the tribunal since its inception. Apart from repeatedly biased rulings against the defendants, the tribunal has been subject to controversy due to its silence on the abduction drama of prosecution turned defence witness, Shukhoranjan Bali and the implication of its top officials in the Economist exposed Skypegate scandal. In effect, the tribunal has lost its acceptability. It is not an instrument for reconciliation any more. It has turned into a government controlled vendetta churning machine.

See the full explicit video of Nannu spilling the beans on the farcical nature of the war crimes trials (post with resumable Download Link  )

This is not just the case with Nannu, as other witnesses have come forward as well, informing the media that they had been forced to give false testimony against veteran politician Mawlana Nizami who is standing trial.

This is the original Skype scandal. Don’t forget to see this beauty!

And why should you forget to peruse the curious case of the Shukhoranjan Bali abduction and his REAL testimony!

ICT Scandal : Nannu reveals all

Nannu, a prosecution witness, was secretly filmed by a Diganta tv journalist and tells all about the lies and scandals the ICT holds.
(In this video he had short hair with no moustache, later in a press conference Nannu has longer hair and a moustache)
Here are the main points to note:
- Hasina directly contacted Nannu to give a false testimony against Nizami
- Major General Imrul Kayes, now second in command of the army took Nannu; army/military behind scandal
- Tuku, state minister of home affairs, threatened Nannu. Broke his arm, bribed him to become a witness by using Nannus son, ‘you were a freedom fighter, if you testify the way I tell you then your son can keep his job’.
- Nannu conflict with Tuku; Nannu’s family voted Jamaat in the elections so they broke his son’s arm several times.
- Nannu: I then surrendered to Tuku…save my sons job at any cost.
- Major general Imrul Kayes forces Nannu to comply ‘it doesn’t matter whether you are willing or not, the Government is depending on you, you must testify in this case’
- Nannu comments on Tuku’s wife taking bribed money, he then continues to mention he’s never heard of Jamaat leaders wives taking/dealing with illegal monies.
- reveals Tuku has a private force like RAB. Will kidnap and kill on demand
- Hasina speaks to Nannu ‘We will remain in power…by any means. We will uproot Jamaat Islam if I remain alive!’
- Hasina says to Nannu ‘you testify and I will reward you personally’
- Major General Imrul Kayes prepared Nannu’s testimony. Nannu reveals he will be the next chief of army
- Nannu reveals he took 140 million taka loan (interest free), withdrawn directly from Hasina’s office. The loan was one of the biggest reason he testified against Jamaat leader Nizami. However, the loan is conditional, if Nannu testifies he receives the loan and visa versa.
A false witness is a grave and heinous crime, it is evident Awami League are doing everything in their means (through illegal ways) to rid of Jamaat and stay in power.
Nannu reveals those who are directly involved and complicit with this scandal; Hasina, Tuku and major general Imrul Kayes.
The secret video is solid evidence the ICT is a political motivated corrupt trial based upon treachery and lies.
Nannu claimed in a press conference The Daily Telegraph misquoted; the need to hold a press conference only proves just how true the scandal is.
Who knows what other scandals lie ahead waiting to be unearthed, how many witnesses have been forced into providing false testimonies, how many defence witnesses have been forced into silence and others into disappearances.
This scandal has proved one thing; Hasina is desperate to stay in power, desperate to rid of Jamaat and desperate to suppress any leakage of evidence.
In time of darkness, truth is our light. It is our duty to spread the truth and expose Awami League’s falsehood
